Nursery

    *Places a plump mouse on the ground near Nettlebrook. Gives Featherear a rabbit. Gives Mousetail a water vole.*

    *Rockstar pads into the den an sits down next to Mousetail* Mousetail as you probably know, Scorchkit and Russetkit are now 6 moons old. I would like to make them apprentices if you think they're ready. *Rockstar licked a paw and ran it neatly over her ear a few times.* I think they're ready. It is up to you Rockstar *she stood and bowed her head to her leader respectfully.* Then it is settled. We shall have the ceremony at sunset. *Rockstar turned to leave after a dipping her head* Wait, who will mentor them? *The queen asked.* I was thinking Leopardpelt will mentor Scorchkit and Jaggedfang will mentor Russetkit. *The queen nodded in agreement and lay back down.*

    *Pads in with 1 sparrow, 1 vole and 1 mouse. Gives sparrow to Mousetail, gives vole to Specklefur and give mouse to Frostpelt.*

    *Pads in, a vole dangling from her jaws. Drops the vole near Frostpelt* Congratulations *She says to Frostpelt and Tigerstripe* I'm sure they'll grow up to be great warriors. *She touches her nose to each tiny kit's head.* Tigerstripe, when you've seen your kits, will you come with me on a hunting patrol? *Tigerstripe nods and goes back to licking each tiny kit. Rockstar dips her head and backs out of the den. Frostpool was outside waiting to go in the den.* Once you've seen the kits will you go with Spottedstorm on a border patrol? *She dips her head* yes.

    *Takes a bite of mouse* Nettlebrook, how would you like to mentor one of Frostpelt's kits? *Rockstar asks the Queen. Nettlebrook licked a paw and ran it delicately over her ear, being careful not to disturb her sleeping kits.* That would be great! I'm really taking a liking to Mistkit. Although she's the smallest of the group, she doesn't let anything stop her from doing everything her brothers and sister do. *Rockstar took a bite of her mouse and nodded.* I'll see what I can do. *She winked at the Nettlebrook and took another bit of her mouse before adding,* I really like all of the kits but Rainkit really shines. He's like the leader of the litter. He won't let the others do anything they shouldn't do. *She smiled and finished off her mouse before giving herself a thorough wash. Nettlebrook slowly drifted off to sleep.*

    Thank you Oakpaw. I'm starving! Could you bring me some fresh water-soaked moss? The old moss has dried up. *Takes a bite of her starling.* Yes, Frostpelt. Mintpaw is bringing fresh kill for the other Queens. *Oakpaw dips his head to the queens and backs out of the den*

    *Feels pain in her stomach* REOW!! *yowls in pain* the kits can't be coming! it's too early REOW!!! *Lightfrost runs into the nursery* Breathe Rockstar. Something has gone wrong! They are coming out way too early! They're not due for another moon! *A contraction grips Rockstar and a silver-colored kit slides out into the nest.* It's a she-cat and she's still-born. *Rockstar wails in pain and grief for her kit. Another spasm send a light orange kit into the nest.* A still-born tom. That's the last kit. I'm sorry Rockstar. They wouldn't have lasted through the night anyways. Something made you kit too early. *Rockstar's eyes brim with grief.* I will name the orange kit blazekit and the silver she-kit shiningkit so they can go to StarClan with names.
